Business Development Manager

The purpose of the Business Development Manager role is to assist in the development of the public sector vertical by identifying viable business opportunities in an effort to drive increased profitable revenue. Working closely with the Managing Director, the Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for executing on a targeted outreach strategy and collaborating on the servicing of existing accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the execution of the strategic sales plan to achieve quarterly and annual sales revenue goal set forth by ELI for the public sector vertical
  • Develops credibility as a trusted partner to current and prospective clients in order to position ELI’s products and services effectively
  • Prospects, identifies, and develops new sales opportunities through targeted campaigns 
  • Prepare, present, and/or support, presentations of ELI solutions in a customized, client-centric, and persuasive manner via written, virtual, and in-person demonstrations 
  • Cultivates relationships with client contacts, including the Certified Instructor Community (CIC), to encourage the full adoption of ELI programs
  • Qualifies leads and conducts introductory meetings to determine viable sales opportunities
  • Secures meetings with active and prospective clients utilizing relevant business news, current trends and industry knowledge for the Managing Director
  • Attends ELI events (marketing events, conferences, certifications, Day Trainings) to make personal connections with prospects and contacts
  • Utilizes pre-planned touchpoints to manage and support training implementations
  • Prepares quotes and contributes to the accurate reporting of quarterly pipeline and monthly forecast data
  • Tracks and reports sales activities, using Salesforce, chronicling details of client relationships, inclusive of sales insights and action plans 
  • Maintains accurate account and contact data in Salesforce
  • Works inclusively and collaboratively with ELI Leadership, Sales, and Client Services as well as all other ELI departments [Learning Solutions, Legal, PR/Marketing, Finance] to ensure that clients receive the best solution for their business
  • Proactively develops ways to improve the client experience in an effort to positively impact brand loyalty
  • Understands ELI’s suite of products and services

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of business development and/or sales experience
  • Proven track record of prospecting, identifying, and qualifying sales opportunities
  • Proven self-starter in addition to a team player
  • Demonstrated ability to “set the right expectations” internally and externally
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving,  and presentation skills
  • Strong organization and administration skills
  • Strong persuasive writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Applications and sales management software
