On June 25, Stephen Paskoff and a diverse group of Human Resources professionals discussed the increased importance of visionary leadership in today's workplace. Presentation attendees agreed that issues such as the need to balance security concerns with respect for employees' religious beliefs and national origin are a major focus of organizations in the post-9/11 business world.
They also concurred that recent unprecedented business scandals have focused attention on the need for leadership that values and models with its own behavior ethical operations.
Mr. Paskoff emphasized the need for leaders to articulate a specific vision of what workplace citizenship means to their organizations, then offered participants a variety of methods to assess how successfully their companies' behaviors reflect the values found in their policies. Finally, participants explored ways to ensure that senior decision-makers understand the necessity of building and maintaining a civil, legal, and productive workplace.
