One of the hallmark events of ELI's 20th anniversary year was the company’s 2006 Conference, "The ELI Experience: Past-Present-Future." A fun, celebratory, and educational event, the conference provided attendees with the opportunity to learn, share best practices, network, and return inspired to take their workplace cultural initiatives to the next level. Highlights included dynamic keynote speakers and informative panel sessions, a hands-on "Past-Present-Future" room, and a festive awards dinner October 11th at the Atlanta History Center.
ELI president Steve Paskoff set the stage in his kick-off keynote address, discussing the past, present, and future of workplace legal and ethics issues. He emphasized that behavior and values will become even more important as the legal environment evolves, and that organizations must take managers to the "next level" in skills and responsibilities to ensure everyone conducts themselves in line with organizational values.
Participants were also captivated by the other keynote speakers, veteran civil rights attorney Julius Chambers and former Enron executive Lynn Brewer. Mr. Chambers spoke movingly of his experiences at the forefront of the civil rights movement, and Ms. Brewer presented an eye-opening insider's account of the Enron collapse.
Concurrent sessions addressing such topics as creating a values-based culture, selling the value of training, building a compliance initiative, and learning approaches for changing workplace behavior provided a full agenda of educational opportunities for attendees. Distinguished panelists from such organizations as the Coca-Cola Company, Home Depot, Wachovia, Mayo Clinic, Microsoft, Liz Claiborne, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Pfizer, and numerous others shared their experiences and best practices with participants. In addition, ELI's special "Past-Present-Future" room gave attendees an interactive view of the company through the years and a glimpse of ELI's newest program and service offerings.
